Question 1

Why do IG units have sealant leakage?

Accepted Answer

Sealant leakage is usually caused by incorrect sealant temperature or viscosity, poor spacer bending accuracy, glass size deviation, surface contamination, or unstable 2K sealing ratios.

Question 2

How can I prevent sealant leakage in insulated glass units?

Accepted Answer

Maintain correct sealant temperature, ensure precise spacer bending, keep glass surfaces clean, use stable A/B sealant ratios, and consider using an automatic sealing robot for consistent quality.

Question 3

Can equipment problems cause IG sealant leakage?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Butyl extruder temperature errors, 2K sealant mixing issues, worn nozzles, and inconsistent machine pressure can all lead to poor sealing performance and leakage.

Question 4

Does manual sealing increase the risk of leakage?

Accepted Answer

Manual sealing often leads to uneven sealant lines and inconsistent corner filling. Using an automatic IG sealing robot significantly reduces leakage and improves product stability.

Question 5

What is the best long-term solution for reducing IG sealant defects?

Accepted Answer

Investing in automated equipment—such as an IG sealing robot, automatic spacer bending machine, and calibrated 2K sealant pump—offers the most consistent and long-term solution to eliminate sealing problems.
