1. Scope of application
It is suitable for conventional ordinary laminated glass, flat tempered and heat-strengthened laminated glass, curved tempered or curved heat-strengthened laminated glass, and hot curved laminated glass.
2. PVB selection criteria
2.1 Ordinary laminated glass
Ordinary laminated glass means that the substrate of laminated glass is annealed float glass, excluding bulletproof glass, aquarium glass, and multilayer laminated glass.
The selection of PVB thickness of ordinary laminated glass follows the regulations in the following table:
Glass type | Substrate glass thickness (mm) | PVB film thickness (mm)
Short side≤800mm | Short side>800mm
Ordinary laminated glass | ≤6mm | 0.38 | 0.38 |
8mm | 0.38 | 0.76 | |
10mm | 0.76 | 0.76 | |
12mm | 1.14 | 1.14 | |
15mm, 19mm | 1.52 | 1.52 |
Note:
1) The thickness of the substrate glass is selected based on the thickness of the thicker substrate in the laminated glass, and the surface quality of the substrate must meet the corresponding float glass standards.
2) Bulletproof glass needs to be inspected and recorded by the public security department, and its PVB thickness must follow the standard type and cannot be changed.
3) Aquarium glass and multi-layer laminated glass need to be analyzed and scientifically calculated to determine the thickness of the PVB film due to their stress conditions and complex structures, which will not be described in detail here.
2.2 Flat tempered and thermally strengthened laminated glass
Tempered or heat-reinforced sandwich products, due to the inevitable glass waveform and bow deformation during the tempering process, the gap between the glasses caused by this deformation will be filled by the PVB film.
This deformed international interlayer standard stipulates that it should not exceed 3‰.
The selection of PVB thickness for flat tempered and thermally strengthened laminated glass follows the regulations in the following table:
Types of laminated glass | Substrate glass thickness (mm) | PVB film thickness (mm)
Short side≤800mm | 800mm short side≤1500mm | Short side>1500mm
Flat tempered, heat strengthened laminated glass | ≤6mm | 0.76 | 1.14 | 1.52 |
8~12mm | 1.14 | 1.52 | 1.52 | |
≥15mm | 1.52 | 2.88 | 2.88 |
Note:
1) To ensure that the glass does not have edge degumming or bubbles during the warranty period, and to ensure the safety performance of the glass, to avoid potential safety hazards and future losses, the selection of PVB film should be strict.
2) For flat tempered and heat-strengthened laminated glass, when the thickness of the two pieces of glass differs by more than 3mm, this structure is not recommended because of the unreasonable force structure. If you insist on using it, the thickness of PVB must be increased by 0.38mm based on the corresponding regulations.
3) For single-piece tempered or heat-strengthened laminated glass, due to unstable factors of thermal cracking and unreasonable stress structure, this structure is not recommended. If you insist on using it, the thickness of PVB must be increased by 0.38mm based on the corresponding regulations, and no responsibility for the breakage of non-tempered or thermally strengthened glass is assumed.
4) For special-shaped toughened and heat-strengthened laminated glass, the thickness of PVB must be increased by 0.38mm based on corresponding regulations because of the large deformation at the edge of the special-shaped glass.
5) For flat tempered and heat-strengthened laminated glass, when the high side and wide side of the glass are both greater than 800mm and the ratio is close to 1, it is difficult to control the glass waveform when tempering or heat strengthening the glass of this size, and greater deformation will occur, The thickness of PVB must be increased by 0.38mm based on corresponding regulations.
6) The thickness of the substrate glass is selected based on the thickness of the thicker piece of the laminated glass substrate.
2.3 Bent tempered, thermally strengthened laminated glass and thermally bent laminated glass
Bent tempered laminated glass is increasingly used in construction because of its unique structural form and good safety performance, but it also brings many problems. Many bent and tempered laminated glass exhibited edge cracking and bubbles soon after the completion of the project, which brought huge losses to both manufacturers and owners.
The bending tempered and heat-strengthened laminated glass 1
Bending tempered and heat-strengthened laminated glass has a curvature due to the glass itself, the curvature error and the existence of tempering deformation determine that the thickness of the PVB film in the middle is thicker than that of ordinary laminated glass, and the minimum thickness is 2.28mm.
The selection of bending tempered thermally strengthened laminated glass and thermally bent laminated glass PVB follows the regulations in the following table:
Types of laminated glass | Substrate glass thickness (mm) | PVB film thickness (mm)
The radius of curvature R>3m | The radius of curvature R≤3m
Thermally toughened, thermally strengthened laminated glass | ≤8mm | 2.28 | 3.04 |
≥10mm | 3.04 | 3.04 | |
Hot Bent Glass | ≤6mm | 0.76 | 1.14~1.52 |
≥8mm | 1.14 | 1.52 |
Note:
1) The thickness of the substrate glass is selected based on the thickness of the thicker piece of the laminated glass substrate.
2) Bent tempered and heat-strengthened glass must meet the corresponding bending tempered glass processing requirements.
3) Hot-bent glass must meet the corresponding hot-bent glass processing requirements.
