Recently, NorthGlass Tianjin Glass Co., Ltd. completed the supply task of double SGP interlayer high-performance coated special-shaped insulating glass for the podium of Lusail Tower in Qatar. The skyscraper is located near the Russel Arena and is being built for the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

Each of the four skyscrapers has an oval-shaped facade that rises as the building twists, giving the impression of an asymmetrical structure. This kind of rotation starts from the bottom of the building. To fit the structure of the building and at the same time have structural safety, it is necessary to change the edge of the glass to an arc curve. NorthGlass Tianjin Glass Company has developed a new type of curved steel by itself. The forming technology controls the arc accuracy deviation to about 1mm, and the side arc curve is controlled within 0.5mm. In the process of glass R&D and production, through the innovation and optimization of the precise cutting of the insulating glass flexible spacers and the coating process of the insulating glass outer channel sealing butyl glue, the appearance quality is improved to a new stage while ensuring the product performance. In addition, the project needs to use large-format insulating glass as the outer curtain wall of the glass building. The large-format insulating glass lamination and internal inflation are difficult to process and difficult to moving, which increases the difficulty of project delivery.

Due to the tight project schedule and difficult processing, the project put forward very high requirements on the cooperation among NorthGlass R&D department, engineering department, and production department. Tianjin Glass Company organized a special project team to make the cooperation between teams more efficient and convenient. In just two months, Tianjin Glass Company completed the processing of all glass and sent it to Qatar. After the installation of 92 pieces of special-shaped glass, it becomes the starting point of the spiral-up curtain wall system, leading the curtain wall to spiral upwards and heading straight to the cloud, making the whole building more upright and dynamic.
The four skyscrapers of Lucerne Tower are the headquarters of Qatar National Bank, Qatar Central Bank, Qatar Investment Authority, and Qatar Diy. The 1.1 million-square-meter Lussel Tower project is located at the end of a tree-lined main road, successfully linking the newly completed football stadium to the waterfront area. The architects took local sunlight into account and used marine-grade aluminum cladding in the design project. The prominent silhouette wraps around the building to block direct sunlight while retaining good views and plenty of light.

At the just-concluded Beijing Winter Olympics, the ice ribbon glass made by NorthGlass shined brightly, becoming the focus of global attention and the subject of intense media coverage. The 2022 World Cup will also create a miracle in the history of human architecture. The "green city" built by Qatar in the desert will open its doors to the world, and Lucerta in the central area will become another focus of world attention.
